Edward C. Cook

Edward C. Cook was born in Boise, Idaho and now resides in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He knew he wanted to be an artist while in the second grade and now enjoys the fruition of the God given talent and recognizes it by his signature which is in the shape of the Christian symbol of a fish. He considers himself fortunate to be able to capture a lovely scene in order that someone else can also enjoy it.

Mr. Cook has always had an appreciation of the precise which is reflected in realistic highly detailed miniature works of art. The paintings have been recognized for their quality and merit in International Miniature competitions with – Two Best of Show awards with accompanying Gold Medals, Second Best of Show and First Place awards. In 1995 Mr. Cook was invited to London to participate in the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Miniature Society which is under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth II. His work has also been recognized by the Miniature Artists of America (M.A.A.) and Whiskey Painters of America (W.P.A.) which are two organizations dedicated to promoting miniature art and honoring outstanding artists of miniatures. Mr. Cook holds signature membership in both organizations.

The paintings have also been recognized in other art venues and local shows where they have accumulated many – Best of Show Awards, Awards of Excellence and First Place Awards. Many of the paintings are in private collections in the United States, Europe and South America. The Village of Hoffman Estates has a growing collection of original paintings used for a yearly series of Limited Edition Christmas Ornaments.

Mr. Cook has a love of nature which can be seen in the selection of his subject matter. He enjoys painting rural landscapes, old building and barns, streams and waterfalls as well as intimate view of water lilies which he feels have a particular beauty.

Each work is rendered using acrylic paints on Arches hot-press watercolor paper with museum board backing. It is then matted with acid-free materials and framed under Conservation or Museum glass to protect and best present what many have called “a precious jewel.” With proper care each painting will last many lifetimes and can be enjoyed by succeeding generations.
